How to trust your body: Shoulders
A focused workshop looking at aligning our yoga practice for building trust in our shoulders. A beginner to intermediate’s look at movement patterns, alignment, and pranayama.
For those who feel uncomfortable with shoulder alignment, breathing, or shoulder inversions please feel welcome. Working our shoulders starts in very safe poses such as child’s pose, down dog, eventually we will look at shoulder position(s) in poses like Camatkarasana (wild thing), and Chakrasana (wheel) and potentially how to balance in poses like shoulderstand.
To build a healthy relationship with our shoulders I believe it is important to build a foundation. Instead of fighting for shoulder stands everyday, allow the pose to come to you. I have struggled for years with my shoulders and I understand how sensitive they can be. My intention is to share how I build a yoga practice for developing trust in my body instead of a yoga practice dedicated to one pose.
Using straps, blocks, pralaya, proper progressions, and pranayama we can prepare the mind for shifting weight into our shoulders and respectfully opening our chest, breath and hearts.
What to expect:
1. Pranayama to clear our mind
2. Building strength, flexion, and alignment
3. Hands on Adjustments (when necessary
4. Deeper fascia release on shoulder
Trust is mutual, the key is not necessarily learning how to trust your body, or if the body should trust you. It is how do we build a trusting relationship with our body. Peering into the shoulders.
