Flights & Transportation

For overseas travelers there are three major airports that are relatively close to Breda: Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, Brussels Airport and Düsseldorf Airport (DUS).

Schiphol Airport | AMS - https://www.schiphol.nl/en/

This is the main international airport of the Netherlands. It is located 113km from Breda. The advantage of flying on Amsterdam Schiphol is that it has many direct flight from major cities all over the world and it is easy to travel to Breda by public transport or car.

From Amsterdam Schiphol to Breda

Driving to Breda from Amsterdam Schiphol takes about 1h13m if there is no traffic jams. Booking a rental car can be easily done with SunnyCars. All rentals are all inclusive of insurances. Please note that during rush hours the route is very prone to traffic jams and can take you way longer. Also parking in the city center of Breda can be quit costly.

We advise to take public transport to Breda. The airport’s railway station is directly below the main hall: Schiphol Plaza. The best way is to take either the Intercity Direct or Eurocity Direct trains. These are fast trains that take you to Breda in 55 minutes. They leave every 15 minutes. The Intercity Direct is a direct train. On the Eurocity Direct you have to change trains in Rotterdam (which is usually seamless).

To travel by train you can either buy a ticket at the yellow ticket vending machines in Schiphol Plaza. Or pay with your contactless debit card, credit card or mobile phone at the yellow card readers. The card readers located at the top of the escalators and lifts that give access to the platforms. You need to have your card read again at Breda Station. You can also buy your ticket in advance on the NS website (national railway company).

Brussels Airport | BRU - https://www.brusselsairport.be/en/

This is the main international airport of Belgium. It is located 95km from Breda. The advantage of flying on Brussels is that it is often cheaper than Amsterdam. If you are flying from within Europe, please make sure to choose Brussels Airport and not Brussels South Airport (Charleroi), to save you a lot of hassle.

From Brussels Zaventem Airport to Breda

Driving to Breda from Brussels airport takes about 1h07m if there is no traffic jam, which is very rare :). For rental options we refer you to SunnyCars.

Public transport to Breda can be a good option, depending on your arrival time. From Brussels Airport Eurocity takes you to Breda in 1h:36m with one change in Antwerp-Berchem station. Or in 1h:41m with two changes in both Brussels -Noord and Antwerp-Berchem stations. Tickets can be bought on Belgium’s national railway company.

Düsseldorf Airport | DUS - https://www.dus.com/en

Düsseldorf Airport is located at 173km from Breda. Flying to Düsseldorf may be a more cost- effective and time-efficient option, although traveling to Breda from there by public transport takes quit a long journey. But if you feel comfortable driving a rental car (app. 2 hours drive) it may be a good option to consider.

Smaller airports nearby Breda for those travelling within Europe

For people traveling from within Europe it may be interesting to research if there are direct flights from airports close to you to either Eindhoven Airport (54km / 40m) or The Hague/Rotterdam airport (61km / 42m). These smaller airports are quit close to Breda.

• Public Transport from Eindhoven Airport: take the bus to Eindhoven Centraal and from there take a direct intercity to Breda (1h20m)

• Public Transport from The Hague/Rotterdam Airport: take the subway (metro) E or Bus 33 to Rotterdam Station and from there take a direct train to Breda (50m).

Driving in the Netherlands

Driving in the Netherlands is safe, organized, and highly efficient. The country boasts one of the best-maintained highway networks in the world. However, the dense population means traffic congestion is frequent, especially during morning and evening rush hours.

The standard daytime limit on highways (06:00 to 19:00) is 100 km/h. At night, it raises to 120 km/h or 130 km/h depending on the road. The standard limit in built-up areas is 50 km/h, but many residential zones are restricted to 30 km/h.

The most challenging factor in dutch traffic for foreigners are cyclists. They are everywhere and have their own dedicated lanes. Driving alongside cyclists in the Netherlands can feel intimidating at first, but the system is highly predictable once you understand the rhythm. The most important mindset shift is to treat cyclists as equal — and often prioritized — road companions, rather than obstacles.

Getting around in Breda

Getting around Breda is highly efficient, sustainable, and straightforward. Because the city is compact and flat, you can easily travel between historic sights, green parks, and outer neighborhoods like Princenhage (where Yogasite is located) using a variety of transit options.

The venue

Yogasite is located at the Dr. Struyckenstraat 165 (please don’t confuse with Dr. Struyckenplein!) in a residential area called ́de Heuvel ́. It is very close to former village Princenhage, which is now part of Breda. You can easily reach our location by bicycle, public bus or car.

Cycling (The Local Choice)

Breda features extensive, dedicated red-pavement bike paths that are mostly separated from car traffic. You can rent affordable OV-fiets shared bikes at Breda Central Station or find commercial rentals at local bike shops and hotels. If you want to explore Brenda’s surrounding nature, follow the distinct red-and-white "Knooppunten" (node) signs for scenic routes through the Mastbos forest or Markdal.

Public Bus Network

There is no need to take a public bus within the heart of the city. If you want to travel by bus to Yogasite, you can either take bus 374 (busstop Dr. Struyckenstraat in front of our building) or bus 4 (busstop Heuvelbrink, walk 400m). You do not need a special card; you can scan your contactless debit card, credit card, or smartphone directly on the bus using the OVpay system. You can use a live transit app like 9292.nl or Google Maps to check real-time bus schedules and platform changes.

Driving and Parking

These is a parking plot at the back of the building where you can park for free. Parking around the venue is free, but there are many elderly people living in our neighborhood that need a parking spot close to their homes. We hope to avoid any complaints, so in case our own parking lot is full, please drive to one of the nearby parking spaces: Dr. Struyckenplein or Monseigneur Nolensplein.

Parking in the streets in and around the city center is mostly limited and quit expensive. Even in some neighborhoods that are not so close to the city center payment is required. So please check for signs, before you leave your car behind. If you are visiting the city center by car we advice to park your car in garages like De Barones, Parking Prince, Chasseveld Breda or Beyerd-Vlaszak.
